Equipment maintenance and hygiene in the home gym – how do you look after your workout equipment? Here are some tips!
Being able to exercise at any time of the day or night in your home gym is a great comfort. Today, we will talk about how to take care of the equipment in order to enjoy this comfort for as long as possible. What products should you use to maintain your home gym? Should you disinfect your training equipment? We invite you to read on!
Basic cleaning of training equipment
Exercise machines get dusty just like any other object in the home. Dust lingering on equipment can degrade its performance over time, cause discomfort for the person training and even trigger allergies. For this reason, basic cleaning of the home gym should be carried out regularly when general house cleaning is carried out.

Vacuum the gym floor – nothing new to discover here. Wipe down training equipment with a damp cloth, not forgetting corners, recesses and joints – the points in the equipment’s construction where most dust collects. After vacuuming, it’s still a good idea to apply an anti-static liquid to the metal parts of the equipment. This inhibits the formation of electrical charges on metal surfaces, so they do not attract dust. If we are talking about wooden training equipment, such as wooden gymnastic ladders, for example, we can additionally protect them with an anti-dust spray for wood.
Disinfection of eco-leather items
American studies show that up to 70% of the bacteria found on the surface of exercise equipment can be hazardous to health, and around 40% of these are bacteria that can cause skin diseases. Therefore, in addition to regular cleaning of equipment, it is important to disinfect the parts of the equipment with which we come into direct contact. These are primarily armrests and backrests, which are usually covered with ecological leather, as well as rubber-coated bar handles. In addition, home gyms often use gymnastic mattresses, which should also be regularly disinfected with a dedicated product. Both rubber and eco leather react negatively to direct contact with alcohol – this is important, as it is often the main ingredient in disinfectants. So choose a surface disinfectant without alcohol in its composition.

Maintenance of mattresses, armrests, backrests and handles
Unmaintained eco-leather can eventually wear out, stiffen and, unfortunately, crack, and rubber can become brittle. Although our home gyms are distinguished by their quality of workmanship, the wear and tear of the material is a natural process. Therefore, it is worth using an eco-leather care product from time to time, which will significantly extend the life of the elements covered with it. A high-class eco-leather care product not only moisturizes and nourishes the material, but also creates a protective layer on it. This layer protects the material from drying out, cracking and micro-damage.

Home Gym Technical Review
How often should a technical inspection of home gym equipment be performed and what should it consist of? The stability of the equipment should be checked before each workout, and at least once a month, check the connections of individual elements and tighten the screws if any looseness is detected. In particular, pay attention to elements such as:
- metal ropes,
- gymnastic rope for climbing,
- fastening of moving elements,
- tying ropes on gymnastic rings.
All of our home gym equipment is manufactured from high-quality certified materials and undergoes meticulous durability tests. These are safe, solidly made sports equipment that will work well in both home and commercial use thanks to their high resistance to intensive use. With proper maintenance, you can certainly train on them for years – we hope that now you know how to maintain their full functionality for as long as possible.
