Do you have school-age children? The role of physical prevention

Why is it worth leading an active lifestyle from an early age?

It makes it easier to control body weight. Physical activity results in a certain energy expenditure, which ultimately translates into maintaining the proper (recommended) body weight. Regular physical activity also allows you to maintain muscle mass (this is due to the fact that fat tissue is burned primarily, not muscle tissue). Exercise also has a beneficial effect on the appearance of the entire figure.

It has a beneficial effect on the mental state. Lack of exercise is a risk factor for, among others, sleep disorders and anxiety-related symptoms. Systematic physical exercise is the most effective and at the same time the cheapest way to maintain a proper mental state. It is also important that exercise counteracts stress and mental fatigue. In the social and mental sphere, it helps to obtain many features that are very important in the life of every adult, these are: emotional balance, mental fortitude, the ability to mentally adapt to changing situations and resistance to stress. In addition, it models a sense of responsibility, discipline, tenacity in overcoming difficulties encountered and enhances the gradual acquisition of cultural values.

Increases immunity. Regular, even moderate physical activity ensures the proper functioning of the immune system; in addition, it reduces the risk of many infections.

It has a positive effect on concentration, memory and brain function in children, adults and seniors.

Reduces the risk of diabetes and insulin resistance and facilitates their treatment by affecting the hormonal balance and increasing tissue sensitivity to insulin.

Reduces the risk of heart disease and death caused by cardiovascular diseases; physical exercise leads to a reduction in the level of typical risk factors for circulatory system diseases: it reduces obesity, lowers blood pressure, has a positive effect on the lipid profile and glucose tolerance, has a positive effect on the coagulation system, endothelial function, concentration of sex hormones, inflammatory processes, and in addition increases the number of leukocytes, erythrocytes, hemoglobin and the oxygen capacity of the blood, and also results in the adaptation of the circulatory system to exercise.

Counteracts some cancers (e.g. colon cancer).

It has a positive effect on bones, joints and muscles, improves mobility, condition and flexibility of the body.

Reduces the risk of neurodegenerative diseases in adulthood, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease.

Regular, moderate activity in correlation with care for the regeneration of the body reduces the risk of injuries and contusions.

Any type of physical activity will work just as well. Where can you start?

Everyday activity – going to school, shopping, any activity can be treated as a way to take care of your own health. Just give up driving everywhere and go for a walk with your child, and if the distance to be covered is too great, you can get off a stop or two earlier (before the destination) and walk the last part of the route.

Play – all children like to play. It is worth using this and start convincing them to play actively. Where to start? For example, you can play hide and seek or peek-a-boo with them. There are really many possibilities. You should definitely listen to your child and provide them with forms of play that will give them the most fun.

Active recreation – free time is a great opportunity to spend time together and take care of your fitness and health. For example, you can go to the forest for mushrooms or to the park for a walk. If someone prefers water sports, then you can choose a swimming pool or a joint trip to the lake (and play football together or just swim there).

Additional sports activities – if the school physical education classes are not enough for the child or if there is a need to expand them, it is worth considering signing the child up for additional sports activities. Thanks to them, they will be able to work on their fitness and all those backlogs that they would like to quickly catch up on. In addition, they can meet new friends there and have a nice time. What to choose? What will give them the greatest pleasure. In addition, it is worth considering their predispositions and physical conditions.
